I really had a great time in this class. It really helped me a lot.
Over the past year, I haven't done anything special or crazy.
I really regret it, so I will do tramendous things in the following year.

State advised to halt lottery sales
The National Gaming Control Commission(NGCC) has appealed to the Korea Lottery Commission(KLC) to consider halting sales of all tickets out of concern that the government could be seen as instigating gambling.
But the KLC will not place any sales restraints for the time being, as the move could “threaten the industry and bring about massive complaints from customers,” said Na Joo-beom, director at the state-run agency.
The nation is expected to sell 3 trillion won ($2.67 billion) in lottery tickets this year, surpassing the 2.8 trillion won annual sales ceiling imposed by the NGCC. As of the end of November, 2.79 trillion won in sales had been recorded, up almost 22 percent from 2.3 trillion won the same period last year.
The NGCC has recommended the issuing authority cap sales to curb excessive gambling, but the KLC says any sales restraints could cause “social problems.”
“We have been trying to cool the explosive popularity by halting all sorts of promotions to slow the industry’s growth, but stopping lottery sales isn’t one of our options,” Na said.
“Business at more than 18,000 venues across the country will be threatened, and complaints from frequent buyers would be a bigger problem.”
In some ways, Buying lottery is an effective way to live with active and happy life during a week. According to above news, lottery profits will exceed the limitation of this year. It means that more people are faced with a difficult financial situation which makes me so sad. However, the problem is that they could be addicted to gambling more seriously. Those who buy lotteries every week with a great amount of money should be awake and aware by themselves that they become addicted gamblers who are more likely to have serious marital problems. As the director said that there is no realistic alterative plan to stop selling lotteries.

Blog Post #8 - Compare and Contrast: Two Products or Two Restaurants
Every year, I go to visit an amusement park. When I'm in that place, it feels I'm in another planet. It makes me go back to my youth. Before going to that place, I have to consider which facility is better: one is Lotte World, the other is Seoul Land.
The places are very big, so I have to walk fast to look around or take amusement facilities as much as I can. They have lots of similar exciting facilities which make me scared. Whenever I go to any amusement parks, I go get on the Viking first. I think that the Viking is the most basic and interesting facility. the atmosphere in both places is fantastic and dreamy, so I can take beautiful pictures there. Both also have their own very cute symbols which are really attractive for children.
Lotte World is located in Seoul which is better for accessibility than Seoul Land located in Kyunggi province, but Seoul Land is bigger. half of amusement facilities in Lotte World is inside so that people don't need to worry about the unexpected whether. However, Seoul Land has folk resturants selling buchimgae and makgeolli outside. Lotte world has higher rides like gyro-drop and bungy-drop while Seoul Land has bigger and longer rides like blackhole 2000, roller coaster 999 and skyX. for winter sports, I can enjoy the figure skating at Lotte World or I can go sledging on the snow at Seoul Land.
As comparing the two places I'd rather go to Seoul land this winter because I've never ridden a sleigh since I was young. I'd like to enjoy the real fun with childish winter sports.

Blog Post #7 - Compare and Contrast: Two Places
I was born and grew up in the Seoul city. This place has similar or different characters with Manila in the Philippines which I tripped to 4 years ago.
Both of them are the capital and have lots of people living there. The weather in Seoul has been changed every 4 seasons, but that in Manila is almost hot with humidity during the year. However, compared to the weather in the middle of summer in Seoul is exactly the same with that in Manila.
The main spot in both has many skyscrapers, shopping malls, hotels and coffee shops like starbucks but people in the road in Manila is even fewer than that in Seoul.
I enjoyed the sea food in Manila and there were many fish markets because the Philippines are around the sea. Seoul also has many sea food restaurants but not many as those in Manila and Seoul is little far from the sea so it’s less fresh than Manila.
I can easily find taxies in both places anytime anywhere, but I never used the subway in Manila while major public transportation people can use conveniently in Seoul is subway.
There are several bars or clubs in both places, but I couldn’t go out at night in Manila because some places in Manila are a little less safe than those in Seoul. They can have guns but we can't.
I think people in both places are nice and kind. Those who live in Manila have different looks with us, but there are beautiful smiles, lovely kids and warm hearts.

The number of people who use the public transportaion has been increasing these days. The government makes an effort to build more public transportation around Seoul. However, there are some problems caused by using public transportaion.
First, the recent negative issue is the sexual haressment on the subway. Many women already had that kind of experience but, they couldn't tell anyone even just 5 years ago. It is still difficult for women to report the police. Even though some policemen disguising as casual people on the subway are under guide recently, it is hard to find criminals because of its stealthiness.
Second, There are too many people using public transportation espacially during rush hour. People can't sit and even move. Moreover, the most serious fact is that it affects sexual haressment. It seems we can't find how to ease the congestion. This is the real problem in the future.
Third, some bus drivers have bad driving habits. In fact, It makes people's feeling nervous. When they stop suddenly, it could hurt passengers. For example, people might tumble or fall in the bus. In addition, some accidents result from the wild driving. We can see some of that cases on the news.
In conclusion, the public transportation has some bad inflences based on these reasons. It could been worse than now, so we should enhance the rules about the public transprotation. convenience is good, but it could negatively affect people who want to be convenient. We should deal with that side effects sooner or later.

In some ways, driving a car is more convenient than using purblic transportation, but I think using subway is better than driving a car. There are some reasons to support my opinion.
It's a time saver. It takes me the least time to go somewhere in Seoul. Transportation in Seoul is the most well-made facility in Korea. It's surprising in terms of puntuality. If I avoid the rush-hour, I almost can sit in the subway.
I can have some free time while I'm sitting. I can read books, listen to music, take a nap and do my homework. I can also arrange my schedule. I think it's really important to have some time these hectic days.
It costs me just about 2000won to go and back. It is a lot cheaper than driving a car. The oil cost has increased a lot more than we expected, so using transportation is very practical.
To sum up, It is better to use purblic transportation due to above reasons. To save money and preserve environment from harmful gas, I can say using transportation is the best way.

Blog Post #4 - A Short Personal Story
Defferent appearance
One of my middle school friends really liked a boy when we all were in middle school. My friend always told me that he was handsome, cute, lovely and so on, but I couldn't understand. When I saw him, he was just an usual boy who was pretty short and had dark skin like a black bean. My friend was dedicated to him; giving a birthday present, chocolates on valentine's day and letters from her heart. However, everytime he was given, he felt uncomfortable and not so happy. This reason also made me feel unfair. I always thought, how was he handsome? why was he popular?, so I pushed my friend to forget the boy and I told her he was a bit cocky.
Few years later, I was finishing high school, some of my high school friends and I had a meeting with guys. we gathered and waited for a while. One of my friend shaked a group of guys. I saw them, but I never met them before. We found a place to talk and sit. At first, everyone told their name. There was a handsome guy, so I concentrated on his talk. Just that moment, I couldn't believe my ears. He was the boy who my friend liked. Moreover, he became really handsome and tall. His appearance even made my heart flutter. I was truely surprised and shocked. I thought he knew my friend name, so I asked, but he didn't remember the name well.
In this case, I realised two things; One thing is people's appearance can be totally different especially when they are young, so don't judge when young. The other thing is the person who you like or love dosen't remember your name unless love takes work on the part of both sides.

blog post#3 descrive a setting
At two in the afternoon, I was lying on the beach tanning my glittering flesh under the fiery sun with wearing my slouch hat which just shielded my face. It seemed my pure white skin was broiling but I also felt warm. I closed my eyes and could feel the creamy breeze passing over my chicks which was just enough to dry the beads of sweat stood on my forehead off.
It was filled with people sitting in the shade of huge umbrellas in rows. It was alive with chatter and laughter. People were having fun in the cold water swimming or just splashing around. Even though the diverse sounds of gigglig could annoy me, I felt like I was with a fuzzy head. I was trying to focused on the roar of waves.
After few minutes passed by, I desperately wanted to drink some juice which made of tropical fruits. In fact, there was a juicy watermelon just next to my left arm but I didn't want to break my peaceful moment. I wish somebody chopped it at a mouthful size and put it on my tongue. However, I was slowly sleeping with forgetting thirst on cloud nine.
I can tell this is what "vacation" means.
I descrived the time when i went to Kyungpodae on vacation 3 years ago. I don't like the place full of people except "beach" especially East beach. the person in the picture is not me~: 0

I think the person i repect is Oprah Winfrey. there are 3 reasons why i admire that person.
First, She is a very strong wonan. She was born in the United States in 1954 living in rural poverty with her grandmother. She was molested by her cousin, uncle and a family friend in her childhood. When she was 14 she became pregnant, but her son dying shortly after birth. However, she never lost her sense of smile, so she has overcome all that difficulties and her weaknesses as well. As a black woman, she now is the only person in the world to have appeared in the latter list on all eight occasions. Second, She is an influental spiritual leader. She hosted her own TV talk show which lasted over 25 years. Her talks motivated people to have courage and not to give up their hopes. Scientists at several universities even used an uplifting clip from the Oprah Winfrey Show in an experiment and discovered that watching the 'uplifting' clip caused subjects to become twice as helpful as subjects assigned to watch a British comedy or nature documentary.
Third, She is one of the most generous philanthropists. She created the Oprah's Angel Network, a charity that supported charitable projects and provided grants to nonprofit organizations around the world. Winfrey's show raised money through promotion of her public charity and she personally donated more of her own money to charity than any other performer in America. To celebrate two decades on national TV, and to thank her employees for their hard work, she took her staff and their families (1065 people in total) on vacation to Hawaii in the summer of 2006.
For these reasons, She is the one who I respect the most as many wonen idealize her. The Oprh Winfrey show has entertained, enlightened and uplifted millions of viewers for the past two decades. I think reading books once a week made her an intellectual talker, so I will do my best to read book anytime I can make and do thank everyhing I have now.

My name is Bora Nam. I used to have a couple of English names but I feel using just my name is more natural and easy to memorise so, just call me bora.
I major in chemical engineering and this is my last semester. That's why i'm taking this class to improve my comprehensive English skills and i'm taking English conversation2 as well.
I love sleeping and watching movies espacially comedies. My favorite actors are Jim carrey and Jack Black.
Actually, I watched the latest movie named "Mr. Popper's Penguins" yesterday. It was interesting but not that funny though because it's too unrealistic.
In winter, I like to go snowboarding. I've enjoyed it just for 3 years. so, I bought my snow boarding cloth last year, which means i'm not that kind of person who lends their snow boarding clothes. you know, It looks not good. but I think I couldn't go up the highest level I'm so afraid the speed........maybe....someday.....I'll try...
well... the more I try to study enghish speaking, the less my skill and confidence are. it's so annoying. Have you had feelings like this?? so, i'm getting afraid of speaking Eng. I'm so worried about it.
Anyway, tomorrow is Thanks giving day. we can't see the full moon this year but I hope you enjoy your long holiday and have lots of delicious food~~~: )
